Big news for Animal Crossing fans. A four year old 3DS game is getting an update. Crazy, right? But it’s true! Nintendo will be offering an update across all regions that will allow amiibo and amiibo cards to work with Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
And not just Animal Crossing amiibo. Splatoon’s Squid Sisters amiibo will be compatible with Animal Crossing: New Leaf too. Here’s how it works. You scan an amiibo, and the character visits your village. Scan an amiibo card, and that villager will visit and maybe move to your town. Scan the Squid Sisters, and you’ll get squirrels dressed as Callie and Marie, along with furniture. It’s all delightful.
This is fantastic news. Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a great game, but it’s four years old. Most people have stopped playing. This will bring them back and give us an excuse to get the cards and figures. I was hoping for a Wii U Animal Crossing with amiibo compatibility, but this is even better! It's too bad we have to wait until fall for this!
